2008 MID-SIZE CAR DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
1.
4-cyl. Or V-6 front wheel drive only, NO V-8’s.
2.
Cars should remain stock. Everything MUST remain in original
location. EXCEPTIONS: 1)
Battery
may be moved into passenger’s compartment, IF safely and securely
mounted. 2) STOCK GAS TANK must be safely and securely
mounted in the rear seat. Boat tanks are recommended. NO
CANS WITH HOSE TAPED INTO THE LIDS ALLOWED! SUSPENSIONS:
MUST have travel and CANNOT be solid (welded, blocked, chained, etc.).

DRIVER’S DOOR may be welded solid, or securely fastened, with ¼”
(minimum) chain or cable. Diagonal brace
behind driver’s seat IS PERMITTED from “hump” (may be plated) to
doorpost only. MUST mount at least 6” below bottom of window
opening. If used, MUST be done in a safe and secure manner.
May be gusseted. No “Mickey Mouse” jobs. No side to
side bars. No “X” brace. No other welding permitted.
4.
HOOD may NOT be welded. Hood must be securely fastened using one
¼” (minimum) chain or cable. OPTION: Hood may be bolted
down, MAXIMUM of 2 bolts per side, 4 bolts TOTAL. Maximum bolt
size: ½” diameter. May NOT attach to frame. Hoods
MUST have at least one 4” hole in each side for fire extinguisher
access.

TRUNK must be securely fastened using ¼” (minimum) chain or cable.
OPTION: may be bolted down, maximum 2 bolts per side, 4 bolts
TOTAL. Maximum bolt size: ½” diameter.

MUST HAVE BAR OR CHAIN IN
CENTER
OF
WINDSHIELD
OPENING FROM ROOF TO CAWL, MUST BE SECURELY FASTENED.
7.
NO WINDOW GLASS ALLOWED. All glass, lights, lenses,
chrome, and all of the grill MUST be removed from car BEFORE it
arrives at
Speedway
. NO BROKEN WINDOW GLASS WILL BE TOLERATED INSIDE OF THE CAR,
and that includes trunk, door wells, rear window deck, and floor.
8.
DRIVERS MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE or older. They MUST have current
PHOTO DRIVER’S LICENSE and/or PHOTO ID.
9.
All Drivers MUST wear approved safety helmet, full-face shield style
or with goggles. Must have working non-passive restraint-style
lap seat belt. Shoulder belt recommended. Racing
style seat harness ALLOWED. Safety gloves, neck support collar,
and knee pads HIGHLY recommended. NO shorts, cut-offs, etc.
permitted. Helmet and seat belts MUST be on and fastened while
in the car and on the track.
10.
Drivers MUST run aggressively (be hitting at ALL TIMES) while Demo is
under GREEN flag status. Cars CANNOT sit for more than two (2)
minutes. Violations may be cause for disqualification.
11.
NO HITTING on Driver’s door. NO “deliberate” head-on
collisions.
12.
Cars MUST stay on front straight-away and within the field of contact
(inside WHITE end lines) during Demo Derby. NO racing through
infield will be tolerated.
13.
Drivers MUST stay in their cars WITH seat belts and helmets on and
fastened UNTIL Demo Derby is over or it has been stopped (red
flagged).
14.
BOTH doors and roof MUST be painted with car’s number in 18” high
readable digits. Additionally, 12” high, 24” wide
“stand up” number must be placed on roof. NO
OBSCENITIES WILL BE TOLERATED ON CARS.
15.
TIRES – radial tires only. NO truck tires. NO
studded tires. NO recaps of any kind. NO stem guards.
NO winter tires. NO tires larger than P215 X 14.
16.
In case of an EMERGENCY, the RED FLAG will be waved, the RED lights
will come on, and ALL Drivers will QUIT hitting and come to a stop.
ANY Driver that DOES NOT cease hitting or DOES NOT stop in a
reasonable period of time WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Drivers MUST pay
attention to the Flagman and lights AT ALL TIMES!
17.
NO pre-packed cars will be allowed to participate in Demolition
Derbies at or promoted by Tri-City Speedway. Any car deemed by
Track Officials to have an unfair advantage over the rest of the
field, will be barred from participating.
18.
Any driver and/or crew member found to be or suspected of being in
possession and/or under the influence of an ILLEGAL DRUG(S) while on
track property WILL be turned over to Local and/or State Law
Enforcement Officers. Car WILL be disqualified from scheduled
demolition derby. Any driver and/or crew member found in
possession of and/or under the influence of alcohol, while on track
property, WILL be removed and/or refused entrance to the pits.
Cars can and may be barred from participating in scheduled demolition
derby. IF deemed necessary, individuals WILL BE turned over to
Local and/or State Law Enforcement Officers.
19.
Twenty (20)
or more cars – two (2)
heats of ten (10) cars each. Final two (2) from each will
continue to the main. For every additional ten (10) cars, an
additional heat will be added with an additional two (2) cars to the
main.
CARS MUST BE READY FOR INSPECTION UPON ARRIVAL AT
SPEEDWAY

20.
When the evening’s events are finished, if your demo car is left
over night, please leave the keys in them or bring them to the pit
office. Also
ALL demo cars must be removed from premises by
noon
the following day.
