2010 OIL REGION LABOR DAY CLASSIC WEEKEND FEATURING WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODEL SERIES SET FOR SEPTEMBER 4 AND 5
by Kristen Edelmann

December 13, 2009

FRANKLIN, PA …. Save the date, because once again plans are developing for the highly anticipated 2010 Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend scheduled September 4th and 5th at Tri-City Speedway.

The World of Outlaw Late Model Series will once again invade the Venango County half-mile oval to highlight the racing card on both nights. The top Late Model teams in the nation will compete in two 50-lap, $10,000-to-win events for the fifth consecutive year at the legendary fast half-mile track.  Past winners at the events include three-time feature winner Steve Francis, two-time feature winner Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert, Chub Frank, Dan Stone, and Tim Fuller.

“This year is going to be better than ever,” noted second year track owner Rich Hetrick. “Our committee is working hard to put on a paramount show in 2010. I think the fans are going to be excited by what we have in mind.”

In addition to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, there will be at least two other divisions in action on each night.  More news about those divisions will be announced in coming weeks. Plans are also underway for the annual “Ghetto South” party, which is presented by Engles Trucking and Ray’s Racing Collectibles. The party features a bonfire and live entertainment.

The well-respected Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend started in 2005 under previous track co-owners Mike Graham and Roger Crick, and has grown tremendously each year.

“They did a great job of building this event to what it is. I’m honored I get to carry on the tradition,” said Hetrick.

Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by H&H Motorsports. They have promoted Sunday night racing at the popular facility starting in 2009. The DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, FASTRAK Late Models, E Mods and Pro Stocks race each week at the Venango County half-mile dirt oval. Tri-City is located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa., off State Route 417.
