KEVIN BOLLAND SNARES BIG BLOCK MODIFIED CHALLENGE SERIES TITLE

   FRANKLIN, PA …. Continuing a stellar season for his race team, Kevin Bolland of New Brighton, Pa., captured the Big Block Modified Challenge Series title. The eight-race series included four events each at Lernerville Speedway and Tri-City Speedway, and was sponsored by Schwab’s Ford of Titusville, Pa., Precise Racing Products of Grove City, Pa., and Teo Pro Cars of Vernon, N.J.

   On the strength of four series victories, Bolland captured the $1,000 title over the Bristolville, Ohio, father-and-son duo, Rex and Russell King. Former Tri-City champion Del Rougeux Jr. of Frenchville, Pa., finished fourth in the title chase followed by Tom Winkle of Mars, Pa.

   Rex King opened the 2006 series with a win at Lernerville’s initial BRP Modified Tour race on May 5^th. Russell King then led every lap to win Tri-City’s BRP Modified Tour Dick Rankin Memorial on May 28^th. Bolland followed with two consecutive series wins in at Lernerville on June 9^th and Tri-City on June 18^th. Brian Swartzlander of Leechburg, Pa., captured the second BRP Modified Tour feature at Lernerville on July 14^th to win his lone series race of the season. Bolland then took two more wins, the Kodiak Memorial at Tri-City on July 23^rd and the Joe Pitkavish Memorial at Lernerville on July 28^th. The season-ending event at Tri-City on August 6^th found DIRT Modified star Danny Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., in victory lane as several drivers invaded that track.

   All eight races offered larger purses with the winner’s share ranging from $1,200 to $2,000. Each event was also be an extra distance affair up to 40 laps.

   Bolland will collect $1,000 for his title during the 2007 banquet season. Rex King ($400), Russell King ($300), Rougeux ($200) and Winkle ($100) will also earn point awards.
