FRANKLIN, PA …. The 9th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100 is slated for Sunday September 11th, and Tri-City Speedway officials are proud to announce that the race will again offer a record purse for the E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks, which includes lap sponsors and other awards. The 100-lap event will be the final race of the 2005 season for Tri-City and the William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series.

Run four weeks before the annual Applefest Celebration in Franklin, the CSOnline Applefest 100 will be the culmination of a fine season of Pro Stock competition at the Venango County half-mile oval. The winner will collect a cool $2,000, which includes a $500 bonus posted by Ed Rogers of Pro Stock division sponsor E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating of Oil City, Pa. The purse pays $125 for last place, which makes the race one of the richest Pro Stock events in the region with purse and prize money in excess of $13,500.

The CSOnline Applefest 100 will also determine the champion of Tri-City’s four-race Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series, which is a track-based series. Heading into Labor Day Weekend, three-time feature winner Jason Johns leads the series points followed by 2005 Pro Stock track champion Gerry Bruce, the father-and-son team of Doug Iorio and Doug Iorio II, and winner of the season’s first series race, Terry Wheeler. Other contenders for the race win and series title defending CSOnline Applefest 100 winner Dave Ferringer and three-time race winner Bobby Whitling (2000, 2001 and 2003). Other winners of the race include Rick Prosser Jr. (1997), Gary Norman (1998), Matt Lux (1999) and Darrell Bossard (2002).

For the fifth year in a row, CSOnline will sponsor the Applefest 100. The top internet service provider in Clarion and Venango Counties, CSOnline offers various computer and internet services for commercial and residential customers throughout the Tri-City area. CSOnline, which is located in Seneca, Pa., sponsors Tri-City’s Autograph Alley, which is located outside of turn four and gives fans of all ages the chance to obtain autographs from the weekly feature winners. CSOnline also hosts Tri-City’s website, www.tricityspeedway.com.

This year, various sponsors will once again offer additional awards for the leader of each circuit of the 100-lap affair. A total of $1,410 in lap money will be paid out with the leader of each lap to receive a cash award of at least $10. The leader of the 50th lap will receive $100 courtesy of William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning of Franklin, Pa. Jim’s Super Market of Cooperstown, Pa., offers $50 for the first and 100th laps. The 17th lap will pay $60 to the leader courtesy of Schwab’s Ford of Titusville, Pa., and Eagle Hoist & Winch of Titusville, Pa.

Eagle Hoist & Winch posted a total of $250 in prizes for the race. Operated by Ken Humanic, who owns the car driven by track champion Gerry Bruce, Eagle Hoist & Winch will pay $50 to the leader and the 17h place car on the 17th lap. In addition, the driver that finishes 17th in the race will receive an extra $100. Humanic also joined other sponsors for a total of nine $25 laps.

There are additional prizes available too. The driver that advances the most positions in the race from his original starting spot will receive the Hard Charger of the Race Award worth $100 courtesy of Bossard GM Store of Titusville, Pa. Atkinson Fire Safety Equipment of Rimersburg, Pa., offers $100 for the 2005 Rookie of the Race Award. The annual heat race winners dash offers a $300 purse posted by Bazell Oil of Logan, Ohio. That event determines the polesitter and starting lineup for the big race. Finally, Seigworth Road Supply of Knox, Pa., is offering $50 for the Best Appearing Car and Crew Award.

In an effort to boost the opportunity for all competitors to earn money, any of the drivers that do not qualify for the main event will be eligible to race in the 20-lap Edward Jones Investments/Dr. Howard H. Kirtland Non-Qualifiers B Feature, which was added to the program in 2004. That event pays $500-to-win and $65-to-start. All non-qualified drivers must start that race to earn purse money. Otherwise, $50 tow money is available.

In addition to the Pro Stocks, for the third year in a row, the 4 Your Car Connection Thundercars will compete in the Apple Core 20. Robby Torrens (2003) and Jeff Manners (2004) are the past winners of that race.

The Lowry Auto Wrecking Applefest Compact Car Demolition Derby will round out the show with $300 offered to the winner.

Gates to the track open for this event at 2 p.m. and racing starts at 4 p.m. on Sunday September 11th. Adult grandstand admission for this event will remain a family friendly $10. In the event of rain, track officials will review the schedule for an appropriate raindate.  For more information, please contact the track office at (814) 473-4038.
