TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY RAINED OUT

May 20, 2007
FRANKLIN,
PA …. Overnight rains inundated Tri-City Speedway forcing track
officials to cancel Sunday night’s races at the half-mile Venango County
oval. This is the first rainout of the 2007 season.
“The grounds are wet and the pit area is very muddy,”
said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. “We waited through the morning
hours to see if the weather would clear up and allow the facility to
dry, but the forecast is not improving. There’s a chance we could get it
in, but there is no sense making people spend the time and money to get
the races and end up being cancelled. So, we’ll start to focus on next
week’s show.”
Next Sunday May 27th, Tri-City Speedway and
Rankin & Son Excavating host the 4th Annual Dick Rankin
Memorial. Featuring the first race of the BRP Modified Tour 2007, the
Schwab’s Ford DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will compete in a 30-lap event
that will also start this season’s Schwab’s Ford Big Block Modified
Challenge Series. That five-race series includes events held at
Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,
Pa.
In addition to the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, the
Dick Rankin Memorial will include events for the 4 Your Car Connection
Super Sprints, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers
Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks, and the Klapec Auto Body Thundercars.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand
admission will remain at $11.
The William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air
Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series was to start on May 20th.
This week, track officials will review this season’s schedule and then
announce a new date to start the Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series.
All tickets received as giveaways at Fisher & Father
in Cranberry,
Pa.,
during this past week for the events on May 20th will be
honored for the remainder of the season, but only at events that feature
the five-star show of the Super Sprints, DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, E
Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars. For more information, please contact
the track office at (814) 473-4038.
Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by Roger and
Susie Crick and Mike and Margaret Graham. They have promoted Sunday
night racing at the popular facility since they reopened it in 1996. The
Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars race
each week at the Venango
County half-mile dirt oval.
Tri-City is located seven miles north of Franklin,
Pa., off State
Route 417.
