KEVIN BOLLAND, DAVID SCOTT AND JASON REAGLE SCORE INITIAL WINS OF 2009; SHAWN SHINGLEDECKER AND GREG MYERS REPEAT AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY

by Marcie L. Barlow

May 10, 2009

Franklin, PA ...... Tri-City Speedway celebrated a pleasant but somewhat cool Mother’s Day on Sunday night as Kevin Bolland (Engles Trucking DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds), David Scott (4 Your Car Connection FASTRAK Late Models), Jason Reagle (E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks), Shawn Shingledecker (RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E-Mods) and Greg Myers (Klapec Auto Body Thundercars) captured feature wins at the Venango County half-mile oval on McElroy Flower Shoppe Night.

Mike Turner and Dean Pearson led the 20-lap Modified feature event to the green flag.  Pearson led the first six circuits before Jeremiah Shingledecker took the lead.  Shingledecker would lead laps seven through ten when the lapped car of Rick Ryder caused him to slow and allowed defending Track Champion Kevin Bolland to take the lead.  Bolland would go on to lead the final ten laps to garner his first Engles Trucking DIRTcar Big Block Modified event of the season.  Shingledecker held on for the runner-up spot with Brad Rapp, Andy Priest and Dave Murdick completing the top five.

Skip Moore and Jeremy Paup won the Modified heat events.

Like Bolland defending EF Rodgers Plumbing and Heating Champion Jason Reagle celebrated the Mother’s Day holiday by capturing his first feature event of the season.  Randy Wyant and youngster Jackson Humanic led the Pro-Stock field to the green.  Humanic led the first circuit with opening night winner Wyant leading laps two through four.  Reagle took over on lap five and cruised to the win.  Wyant held on for second with Humanic, Chris Haines and Dave Ferringer rounding out the top five.

Jason Johns and Reagle won the Pro-Stocks preliminary events.

“Slowride” David Scott picked up his first ever FASTRAK Late Model event at Tri-City as he used the high side of the race track to get by defending divisional champion Max Blair. Blair led the first 13 circuits as Scott patiently worked his way to the second spot after starting sixth.  Scott used the high groove to get by the Titusville youngster and rim-ride to victory. Blair held on for the second spot followed by Mike Pegher, Jr., Jim Frank and Bobby Powell.

A nasty crash on lap four of the main event occurred Jim Frank and Scott got together on the backstretch.  Scott then got into Bobby Whitling who spun.  The ensuing crash also collected Joe Valenti, Joe Martin, Michael Mitchell and Jamie Brown.  Whitling and Valenti’s rides were severely damaged but fortunately all of the drivers were uninjured.

Jim Frank, Blair and Pegher, Jr. captured the FASTRAK Late Model heat races.

Franklin driver Shawn Shingledecker overcame a flat tire in heat race action and scored his second E-Mod victory of the 2009 racing season.  Ron Roncaglione led the first three circuits before Shingledecker took command of the feature event on lap four and went on to collect the victory. Carl McKinney, Mike Potosky, Roncaglione, and Tim Engles completed the top five.

McKinney won the lone E-Mod heat event.

Greg Myers and Jonathan Huff battled side by side for the entire distance of the Klapec Auto Body Thundercar feature event.  At the finish line it was Myers defeating Huff by inches to claim his second Thundercar victory. Huff was followed by Bill Winters, Curtis E. Bish and Bill Myers.

Huff and Greg Myers won the Thundercar heat events earlier in the evening.

In the 12-lap Powder Puff race, which featured the lady racers competing in Pro Stocks and Thundercars, Camille Ferringer defeated Casey Paup.
